Annie Hendricks

At the beginning of July, 2010 Annie Hendricks, a member of Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, takes on the duties as the new Outreach Coordinator.

Annie explained that she’s very excited about the opportunity to help COR grow into the future. She’ll continue greeting guests during Sunday services, answering their questions about our church, conducting surveys, working with church council members and assist Pastor Steve as needed including helping with Introduction to Christianity classes.

Her life’s journey began in New York State where she grew up. After earning a college degree in Economics, she worked as an investment bank trader in New York City for ten years. She later returned to college at the University of Washington acquiring a teaching certification in English as a Second Language (ESL).

With an ESL certificate in hand she traveled to Japan in 1995 where she taught English for a year. At the end of that year she returned to Seattle and worked as an investment portfolio manager. In the Emerald City in 1995 she met her future husband, John and they married in 1997.

John was raised in California, but graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Architecture. He then started the architectural firm Hendricks Architecture.

When their family started in 2000, Annie opted to stay home with their children. They have three children, Sam 9, Abigail 8, and Lance 4. Besides being a housewife and mother she’s the bookkeeper for her husband’s business.

Annie said that while she had no intentions to relocate their family from the Seattle area, in the spring of 2006 John traveled to Coeur d’Alene and Sandpoint to visit a client. He came home talking about how great north Idaho looked. I told him, “That’s nice, but we’re not moving!” She was later talked into driving to Sandpoint to check out the area. After visiting the region, they agreed it looked like a pretty good place to raise their children.

Six months after John’s initial trip to Sandpoint they moved and bought a home in the Sagle area and a home in Sandpoint to use as an office.

Their initial involvement with Christ Our Redeemer was through Little Lambs Preschool when they enrolled Abigail in 2006 and 2007. They were pleased with the school’s program that included Christian Bible studies along with the dedication of the teachers. Before long they began attending Sunday services. Besides enjoying Pastor Steve’s sermons, they liked how the church handled children during services and the fact that there was a good youth program.

After completing COR’s Introduction to Christianity classes, they both joined Christ Our Redeemer last year.

One thing she would like to see in the church is more middle and high school aged students attending and being involved with the youth groups.

Annie’s involvement in good education and youth carries over to Sagle Elementary School, where her two oldest children attend, and where she is the current Parent Teachers Association (PTA) president.
